King of the Poor

How can a King suffer
A throne adorned as his home
Power and blood of a lion
A King of Kings
A God reigning over more than what
Man will ever know
What man will never understand
Floors adorned with gold
Gates made of pearls
Riches so abundant they live as specks under His fingers

How can a King suffer
For the people who live so lowly
Skin so dirty
Spit, mud, sorrow and anger flaking off of our
Dying bodies that kindle
Flames of gnashing teeth

How can a King cry
For people who live parched
And thirst for evil

How can a King suffer
For his people who hate love
Who despise mercy

How can a King suffer
Almighty and everlasting
Rich and omnipotent
For the poor of his people?
