A Little Bit Like (My) Love

Cold, I feel nothing but cold
In the water
I have my driftwood
And it has me

Splintered, splayed, a little bit lost, a little bit
restless, a little bit chipped near the ends
Just like this piece of driftwood, I am

In this fight between us, against us
I try to keep my driftwood afloat
It tries to keep me afloat
I’d be better off with
A boat, a cruise, a plank of wood
A little bit sturdier
But I have my driftwood, frail
And it has me
And we try and we try to keep
Afloat.

Isn’t this a bit like love?
This is a bit like my love.
